Epiphenomenalism: one of the most disturbing ideas in philosophy

What is the point of our consciousness?
isnt it ironic that a discipline dedicated to "thought" would come to the conclusion that thoughts arent real????... lol.... but it does get deeper by causing deeper thoughts which is the way of "understanding life". thus the whole drive or push of "expanding the mind" to see past the borders or restraints of an every day ho-hum existence.Nope...Nope! If the premise is the mind is just in charge for our self preservation, my husband can prove that wrong with his track record of choices that almost killed him! Nope, somebody out there has too much time to kill coming up with this theory.
And now my head hurts....THAT makes my head spin... I KNOW that I think and am conscious but honestly, I sometimes am not sure that the rest of the people are not just figments of my imagination. There may only be ONE consciousness. If that were so then wouldn't that ONE be God? That is sort of what the Bible's "In the beginning..." is all about.
I think, therefore I don't exist.Like the statue of "The Thinker," some people think too much.
We are God trying to understand ourself and why he exists.THAT makes my head spin... I KNOW that I think and am conscious but honestly, I sometimes am not sure that the rest of the people are not just figments of my imagination. There may only be ONE consciousness. If that were so then wouldn't that ONE be God? That is sort of what the Bible's "In the beginning..." is all about.
