Number one is as we grow older we experience the same patterns of Life over and over and it becomes old hat. That doesn't play to our desire for something unique.
Number two has to be the companies of the United States and large portions of the western speaking world. Just look at every big companies signage on their brick-and-mortar properties and on their billboards. It all became homogeneous because of a dollar.
After traveling across the country with a sports thing in the 80s and early 90s there was a big switch and how companies advertise themselves. Those ads turned into changing very unique geographical and cultural landscapes. The Holiday Inn in Louisville Kentucky looked exactly the same as the Holiday Inn in Albuquerque New Mexico and the Holiday Inn in upstate Wisconsin. And the road signs matched up.

I agree we are watching the clock and counting the time. When you’re young, you are just not conscious of it. Facing the clock is scarier than any monster. I have tried to tame it with faith but the process is not for the faint of heart. When I panic.... I try to stay in the moment. Just keep my eyes on the road in front. I would add that i hate the clock. When I’m on the other side I will smash it.OK, my two cents worth since I'm old as dirt. We hit a time where our past is longer than our future. Ever notice how when you have a short time to do something you need or want to do time seems to just fly by? That's my theory and I'm sticking with it.
