Did you have any childhood heroes?

Captain Kirk, Carl Sagan, and Col. Alan Young (ret'd). Alan Young was a P-51 double ace in WW2, and the person who first taught me traditional drafting, using pencil and ink. He was an American Hero and educator, definitely of the Greatest Generation. It was an honor to be his student and he was a positive influence on me as a teen.

I ran into him again when I was about 40, he and his wife were leaving a restaurant that I was entering. I aporoached him and introduced myself, told him I was a former student and how much my time with him meant to me. He didn't remember me but was gracious and thanked me for letting him know.
I read his obit a dozen years ago, but will never forget him.

I honestly can't say I had any heroes. Unless you count characters in the books I read that inspired me. I was a sci fi reader from waaay back and often found characters that gave me insight and goals.
