Desert encounter and lost time

When these lost time events happen, I wonder if it is because of the dimensional collision of time caused by these beings entering our dimension. Are they entering here through a portal or rip in time and space which effects those in the immediate area? Or are they abducting people for experiments and wiping memories? I guess both could be possible. These types of incidents really make me wonder what is going on and it brings to mind the experiments at Skin Walker Ranch.
