LOL So sorry, Oz! My own round of a killer flu has me always watching these things now. During the outbreak that hit me in 2018, nobody let out the news that it was the worst flu season in years and a killer flu was involved. (I ended up having both types back to back.) It was almost a year later before that news was quietly released. Had I known how bad this one was, I might have sought treatment earlier...but I'm now told it would probably not have made a difference. I actually went into respiratory arrest with it. Lucky I was in the ER when I did.
When this happened, I later said to two doctors, "I swear this one got loose from a lab somewhere." Both docs, separately, did not laugh, and one even said, "it's possible". Which is why I now trust NOT the government on giving out the real news on this stuff.

People can read about these flu's and disasters in different places but when it hits home, it hits home.You must be pretty tough to have beaten the other virus,I just walk into a supermarket and come down with something,I think it's because I live isolated or I'm just a wimp but I don't like my chances with this one.

I'm a tough old bird, Oz, but this one almost got me. I now have to be extremely careful. My docs don't want me out and about much. Good thing I live rural.

Rural is good, but I just got back from the drug store and read the headlines on the local paper.
Debi, our neighbors in Rensselaer Indiana are shutting down the school system because of a flu outbreak.
This is not the coronabeervirus, but these bugs spread fast.

Whelp, had a phone call this afternoon from the nursing facility SIL is in warning us to NOT visit until further notice. Because hubs and I are lung patients, we get the warning phone calls when something is going down over there. The hospital is overloaded with flu patients...no beds left. So the overflow is being sent to their skilled unit for care. (The former Methodist Home, Paint.) Hospital is now on flu protocol, with any visitors being screened before they can get in other than ER, and those are being screened when they hit the doors there. No one under 14 allowed, all visitors wearing masks. Major warning for all immune compromised or chronic illness people to not enter unless it's an emergency.
Now, what concerns me with this new "flu", is it spreads like a cold virus. Next concern...it's already mutated twice. Once to get from the bats it started with to infect the snakes, and then mutated to go from snakes to people. This is a pattern of mutation that shows it's most likely going to do it again. If it pairs up with another flu out there, we got trouble. Since it is now found to be able to spread from/through the eyes as well, this is more than masking up is gonna stop.
Once again, not trying to be a doom porn pusher, but this one caught my attention for a variety of reasons, and one of them was on a psychic level when it first popped up. Now, normally China downplays things like this. They are not downplaying this one. They are trying to build two more hospitals in a week to 30 days to handle the cases they know are coming.
