Think it was Monsterquest that did a search for giant squid and caught something coming up from the depths. I forget the size they pinned it at but it was big enough. They are out there for sure.

To me the most interesting part of the story was how they found one of those big rascals back in the 1920s inside a whale that had eaten it. Think about that. Since they inhabit only deep water, I take that to mean a big-ass whale held his breath to swim to the deepest depths of the ocean to swallow his prey and then swim back to the surface before he drown. To me, someone who can't walk and chew gum at the same time, that's damn impressive.

Of course, he still got harpooned......

Perhaps the whale had a grudge against the squid? Or perhaps it did drowned close enough to the surface to float up the rest of the way and was found?
