Cars

We are happy with our 2024 Subaru Forester. Too many bells and whistles to suit me, but it beats having to do repairs every few months.
I had a 1980 model Subaru wagon in the early 2000's . It had had a hard life but it just kept going, driving on bush tracks mainly. I ended up hitting a tree but if I hadn't it could have still been running ;ss.

I'll definitely let it be known when we get something fun. I was looking at a pickup truck, four door crew cab. There was a button on the dashboard that with one push rolls down all the windows at the same time. I have no clue what purpose that serves, why it exists or when it would ever be used. But at the same time I'm slightly disappointed in every other vehicle I've looked at because none of them have this feature.
We have a pickup truck, and it is nice, but the ride is not comfortable. We keep one to pull the horse trailer or I wouldn't bother with owning it. Many people love them, but for me the ride is too tight and bumpy. I tolerate the ride for the need of it. Do you enjoy the truck ride? My daughter just bought a jeep, and it is really cool, but she is finding the ride is similar, tight and bumpy. She spends a lot of time driving for her job and I wonder how long the novelty will last. We have a club cab, 4 door too and it is the way to go if you can swing it. We have always had a Ford F150, but I have to admit that those Dodge Ram models are pretty! and come at a better price. The step-up tail gate was genius.

Back before I got married and started a family I drove a little Toyota 4x4. It had the big tires, pipe bumpers and I took it out in the dirt and mud almost every weekend. I loved that truck but I was young and lacked impulse control and I used to break it a lot. So I switched to driving sedans for the past 25 years and miss having a truck, especially now that I'm in Colorado and they have some beautiful off road trails.

One of the biggest downsides of having an off road focused vehicle is that lifting it and changing the suspension and tires all tend to void the factory warranty. However truck companies have figured out that people want these features so they have special models that come equipped with them brand new. One of the biggest benefits is the off road suspension tends to give you a smoother riding vehicle even on the road. The downside is that this beefed up suspension actually reduces towing cacapacity. So I'm looking for that right balance of Work Truck and Play Truck.
