First off, im brand new here and im hopimg you all can give me insight.
I've always believed in the paranormal but have only had one true encounter until last night. I use a CPAP at night and when I went to bed the entire face mask to include all small parts was completely disassembled and laying on the floor. I specifically remember hanging it on my nightstand when I woke up yesterday morning. The only way that it could be disassembled like that is by someone or something with hands. In other words, falling, smashing, stomping or animal event would have broken it and the way it goes together, you would need gentile dexterity to take it apart without breaking it.
My wife and I worked at home all day yesterday and there was never a time that both of us were out of the house. Its a 2k sq ft, one story NEW CONSTRUCTION only 3 years old. Can anyone provide any insight into this? We are in a gated 9 acre property surrounded by fields and woods so noone was here and I checked my cameras just in case.

Hi Jc, welcome to the forum. I think it's a fair statement to say there have been reports of similar takedown/disassembly activity, I know you'd hear that occasionally on the various ghost hunting programs. Some claimed they were dealing with poltergeists. The one that comes readily to mind was a woman who claimed a ghost routinely unpacked her lunch at her haunted place of business.

You might consider putting a camera (like a baby monitor or trail cam) in the room to record what's going on. Who knows, might happen again.

Hey thanks for the welcome and response. So light research all points to poltergeist. What does that mean? What's the difference?

  1. A ghost that manifests itself by noises, rappings, and the creation of disorder.
  2. An unseen ghost which makes noises and causes disruption, especially by causing physical objects to move or fly about.
  3. A ghost that announces its presence with rapping and the creation of disorder.

A CPAP has one hose which can disconnect easily (near the mask)and one hose (connected to the machine) which is usually snapped on. Are you saying the hose at the back of the machine became unattached? I always try to eliminate the normal before assuming the paranormal. Do you have a dog or cat?

Welcome to the forum. Assuming there’s no physical cause then, yes. It seems like a haunting.

Didn't cite research, just pointed out what you have described I've seen claimed on ghost hunting shows. Some blamed "poltergeists," which generally refers to noisy, often mischievous entities associated with physical activity/disturbances.

I think you said this is your first experience in a 3 yr old house. Assuming there is some paranormal element to your experience, any thoughts on what might have stirred something up after 3 years? Has there been any recent remodeling of/modifications to the structure or immediate area? How about any recent purchases of vintage/pre-owned articles? Any recent death among family/friends?

What you want to do relative to possible paranormal activity will likely decide the advice you receive here. If there's something there, we can certainly give you advice on how to get rid of it, as well as how to coexist and set boundries with it if you opt to stay put and its presence doesn't bother you.

To get you started, here's our primer on dealing with the paranormal in the near term. Be patient, others with far more ghost/spirit background than I will respond. There will be questions, not because we doubt you, but because we're trying to understand what you might be dealing with.

I also use a CPAP and this definitely seems to point to paranormal interference. I know that to detach the hose from the unit requires pressing with your fingers to get it to detach. An animal could not have done that.

Yes and no. My particular mask disassembles into 8 pieces. The headstrap has 2 hooks that must be physically manipulated to remove and the rest are plastic and silicone components that pop together. You have to be careful or they break. I could have thrown it down, stomped it or a pet could have played with it and it would have broken but not disassembled neatly. Trust me, I have tried to think of ANY other explanation.

Thank you!
I built the house myself 3 years ago. To my knowledge nothing new to us like an antique has been brought in. My brother in law is very sensitive to paranormal and he came and felt something odd in one area of the house but nothing strong. I have washed the house through prayer and the first night went well but last night at 0410 I woke up and my small dog woke up at the same time and came over to me very upset and was trembling/vibrating. I began to pray and washed each room. In my prayers while laying a hand on my dog. When I got to the end the dog had stopped trembling and I was falling back asleep. BTW the dog waking up trembling has been going on for about a year randomly and we always attributed it to her arthritic pain.

Good morning, JC. I'm late to the thread here but was off line for several days.

I've just read your account. Couple of things I would ask is do you live in an area with a lot of limestone or water? Have you looked at any of the history of where your new house is located? Was there any storyboard for cemeteries or negative energy in the area where you built? Also, was the event involving the mask the first actual incident of physical activity? And what date did that occur? Is it strictly you, your wife and the dog in the home or do you have any children in the home as well?
