Despite my dislike of camping, I have spent months in an RV traveling, and several nights in a tent.

Do you like to go camping?
Why or why not?
What do you find the best part of the experience?
RV or tent?

The last time I went camping was when I was about eleven. While some aspects of camping intrigue me ( fresh air, nature) other parts do not. (insects, discomfort, roughing it.) Mr. Garnet's family always camped and he has fond memories about it.

If I had to rough it for a good reason (building a new house) I could probably stand it, as long as I was comfortable for sleeping and didn't have to contend with too many bugs.

I live in the middle of nowhere in the middle of nature. I have always been confused when the family wanted to load up and go to a crowded campground to "enjoy nature."

I love nature...as long as me and nature have a way to retreat from each other! I like my creature comforts, air conditioning, and a soft bed.

I love camping, not commercial campgrounds though, that's not camping, lol.... pack the boat up and find an island in the middle of the swamp or along the riverways. or the national forests where you can just hike in as far as you want and set up. my only requirement or preference is that it should be by a body of water of some type.
I actually like tents more than an RV. which is better for travelling but not actually camping.

I enjoy 'rough' camping - out with a sleeping and bivvy bag, and some MRE meals. Maybe build a shelter for the night depending on where I am. Filtering and PuriTabbing water for brews and cooking. Took my nephew out on one of my trips a few years back and he loved it, roughing out in the middle of the Peak District.

And the best bit is, always, 'bailing out' after a heavy downpour :tearsofjoy:

I'm with you, camping means setting up a camp, not plugging an RV into utilities at some commercial facility. I used to camp alot when I was younger, especially when my daughter was growing up, but haven't gone in over 20 years. My granddaughter has asked if I'd take her camping, but I think she's too young at this point.

My son wants to go out camping with me, but he is a bit 'young' too at the moment. He is 13 in actual years, but because of his disabilities, his mental age is only that of a 9-year-old and he is not too keen on the dark - or spiders!

I compromise by taking him out for a day here and a day there, doing some map-reading (which he is really getting quite good at) and shelter building in the woods near us, sometimes stopping out a little later for something to eat. He loves 'Menu B' British Army ration packs.......... :) It breaks him into camping gradually and looking forward to the day father and son can go on a full trip.

As for my eldest - wouldn't be seen dead doing something like that!

I prefer camping at resort hotels and casinos.
Go for a swim. Golf. I like to gamble within limits. If I'm up a $100 or down a $100 - I quit. And a big breakfast buffet or ordering in pizza is always a nice touch. See a show.
