A jaw-dropping video from Canada shows fishermen breaking up a battle between a massive octopus and a bald eagle that had attempted to eat it. The incredible scene reportedly occurred in the waters off the coast of Vancouver Island when some workers from a nearby fish farm heard some strange shrieking sounds. Looking to find the source of the commotion, the group was stunned when they stumbled upon a rather sizeable bald eagle that had made the mistake of trying to tangle with a Pacific octopus.
It would seem when the fishermen arrived things had taken a turn for the worse for the eagle as the octopus had wrapped its tentacles around the bird and was pulling it into the water. Although they initially considered letting nature take its course, the group ultimately decided to step in and separate the two creatures. Using a long pole, they pulled the pugilistic pair into the boat and proceeded to untangled the eagle from the tentacles of the octopus.
Once the two animals were disengaged, the fishermen deposited the octopus back into the water and admired just how enormous it was. As that was going on, the seemingly dazed eagle had escaped to a branch along the shore where it was, one assumes, it was nearly as enamored with the octopus as its rescuers had been considering that the creature had just tried to drag it into the water and eat it.
