I met my friend Dawn at the Hi Ho Kindergarten. I barely remember that as we then went on to two different elementary schools. Fast Forward to 7th grade, our first year together in Jr. High. We were both invited to a costume Halloween party by a our mutual friend Christine. Before I say this next part, do remember this was years ago when the Ouija Board was still in the "toy" group and was all the rage..like 50 years ago, folks.

So! Part of the party involved said Ouija Board. Dawn and I decided to try it together. We put our fingers on the planchette, felt a "charge" in the air around us and the dang planchette went flying horizontally across the room. And that's when we realized we had a special bond. We were totally inseparable during the years that followed, and still friends to this day.

She became a nun. She's now Prioress General of her order. And look what I do...lol
We still send each other Halloween cards and she is the Godmother to my oldest child. We can pick up the phone and start a conversation like no time has passed. When I recently moved, here's what I got on messenger from her:
"Do I get a new mail address? Is your email address the same? I don't want to lose track of you. I can't even glimpse the picture of an ouija board without sending you a smile and a loving prayer. After all, we know where the other one hid the bodies."

Now, that's a best friend.

Early school day friends, i forget how me became friends. I haven't spoken to any of them in many years. Current friends i have met through work, close friends or through other friends. Some have died far too early in life, though i will always keep them in my memories. Some of us grew apart or life takes the reins for us to get together often. I'm sure there is football, hockey, fishing, burger grilling and concerts that will throw us back together. In the meantime, phone calls and texts fill in the gaps.

I met my best mate Al about 30 years ago in the Blue Mountains, he was interested in my dogs at the time and wanted to cross my greyhound with his hunting dog. He's aboriginal, rides a Harley and I love him like a brother. I was so glad to move back here, it's like I've never been away.

Well , back when Little Joe was girl cat, and 8 weeks old, she was trying to eat a bug. I caught her when she was about fall in the lake chasing the bug.
And a year later the vet told me she was a boy. Anyway, we stopped doing beauty shop, and now do barbershop. He likes it when I sing Yellow Submarine when I brush him.

I have never had a best friend, because my family moved around too much. My first friend was named Janie, when I was five. I used to go over to her house or she would come over to mine. I cried when we moved away and I never saw her again. So now my besties are beasties, lol. Mostly cats.

I’ll be your Best Friend Mrs G!
