Labor Day weekend, the official end of summer for most, was always spent with my maternal grandparents when I was a child.
Thinking of those times today, here's the question!

I lived down the street and my parents fought a lot. I would high tail it to my grandparents house, you could hear the laughter from a few houses away. They didn't drink or anything, they were just very content and happy folk. I like to think I'm very much like my grandma, my favorite relative that I miss every day. So I remember the laughter.

My paternal grandmother made beautiful dresses for me and for my sisters, on her sewing machine. She also made delicious grape jelly. Whenever we spent the weekend at her house, she always had a good dessert waiting in the refrigerator; I still remember the bottle green parfait glasses.
