This story reminds me of Stevedog's sighting of a glimmer.I remember a story from "Missing 411" it was the only one NOT about someone missing...which I thought weird and guess why I remember it...A woman was hunting in a deer stand. During her hunt she heard branches cracking, she looked over towards the tree that the noises came from and swore she saw about 40 foot up, what only be described as a shimmer as if light was bending around that area. At that same exact moment in her town near the high school was a UFO sighting by over 20 ppl.
If you have seen "predator" movies...how the alien cloaked themselves....that's what the woman saw.
Imo, there could be many "Things" human beings can not see or hear, yet are there...
