Archaeologists Found a Roman Gladiator’s Skeleton—With Bite Marks That Hint He Fought a Lion

If you look at an aerial view of the Colosseum, you are seeing the basement that was under the main arena. The actual floor of the arena is long gone. Guessing if a gladiator fight wasn't exciting enough, they would release an animal up to the main arena to sweeten the spectacle. Engineering wise, the design was pretty advanced. There also was a roof cover if rain wanted to dampen the fun and heard they would simulate sea battles in there as well. Truly was a different time.
