A piece of the Sun broke off

The filaments (Solar Flares) do not break loose from the sun. They absorb back in. This filament actually broke away and is now circling the pole at the top of the sun on its own. The pic below shows the filament at the top as it was breaking away.

Talk about Polar Vortex! Material from a northern prominence just broke away from the main filament & is now circulating in a massive polar vortex around the north pole of our Star.

I see, I guess I was expecting a chunk of the round part to be missing lol. Thinking about it, the sun being just gasses that wouldn't make sense. Thanks Debi.
