A Great Little Movie.....

One aspect i really like is that I've seen the movie several times and still haven't made up my mind about whether or not I like the character Randy "The Ram" Robinson. As and underdog/comeback/redemption arc story I am rooting for him. I see what his life has been and genuinely feel that he has suffered enough, learned enough and grown enough as a human being to deserve that second chance. Then at other times I'm yelling at the screen at just how stupid and selfish he's being.
My take on it is he goes through the arc of redemption part way. And I really think Randy the Ram had genuine intentions to do well. But at the end of the day he is an extremely flawed and self-destructive man - even as his goal is within sight.
And just because you and I are talking about it all these years after the movie came out means that was a very memorable and complex character !
My 2 cents.

The sequel to the George Romero classic. 2 hours of zombies getting their heads shot off by SWAT officers hold up in a Suburban shopping mall.
The subtext is the surviving people end up fighting among themselves because they have fallen prey to commercialism.
My 2 cents

In the late 1990s when I was doing movie extra work I had a job on what I was told was a TV pilot. The title was the name of a street in LA. We worked at LAX airport and in another location at an LA diner. I hadn't heard of any of the cast members and the director was mostly known for TV work and as a writer of feature films. I didn't think much of it at the time. Most pilots are never picked up and nobody ever hears of them.

But, two years after I worked on it the project turned out to be the feature film Mulholland Drive directed by David Lynch and starring now-famous Naomi Watts. It won a bunch of awards and nominations.
