A Complete Unknown

This is the song from which the movie title comes. It is a line in the song chorus:
.
How does it feel?
How does it feel
To be without a home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?
.
.
It is debated who ( if anyone ) he was writing about. My opinion, he was writing about himself after a failed tour date. He was depressed, wrote a bunch of stuff, picked " rolling stone " from his writings and began writing this song. Supposedly he wrote 20 verses; had to trim to fit into a song that DJ's would play on the radio. Even still, the song is twice as long as most songs of the time ( 1965 ) .

The Mrs and I saw the movie last night. It was okay. I may be disappointed because of all the promotional hype that I viewed in the last two weeks. The actors did a good job portraying Bob's and Joan's mannerisms and singing voices. The man who played Bob Dylan may be nominated as best actor. He prepared for four or five years for the role ( covid delayed filming ) . The movie included most of Dylan's popular songs during the 1961-1965 years ( sung by the actor ).

I rate the film 3.5 outa 5 stars. I will watch again when it comes to home viewing where I can control the sound better than the theater did. The dynamic range at the theater was too great for my hearing aids.

I followed my own imdb link above. It has been nominated for eight oscar awards including " best performance by a male leading actor" and a whole bunch of other industry awards. I am happy to see this.

Thanks for the review Critter. My husband wants to see it. We love going to the movies so this will no doubt be on the list to see. I was never a big Dillon fan but it’s always fun to see how close the actors come to copying the famous person. The Elvis movie that came out last year was an amazing portrayal of him, regardless if you liked the way the story was written.

Bob Dylan reviewed the screenplay and only made a few edits. He did suggest an added scene and described it. The Director said " that's not true." In typical Dylan fashion Bob responded " whata you care." ;)
The director when asked in an interview, denies the fictional scene request.
