I love rocks. Whenever we travel we like to stop and stretch our legs a little so we look for a place that has rocks and we do a little rock hunting. My favorite is the various petrified woods, ferns, and best of all is petrified palm. There is something special about holding something that lived so far in the past. I have a slab of petrified fern that is a hundred and sixty million years old.
Where I live was at one time the beach of the Western Interior Seaway during the Cretaceous period. We have all sorts of petrified woods that floated ashore here as wood and got buried and made into petrified wood. My yard has all sorts of polished stones that were polished by the wave action of that huge inland sea.
