My middle son builds a "snow cooler". He makes a box shape with the snow, puts a bit of water on it and lets it refreeze nice and solid. Sort of like an igloo. Put in beer and ta da!

It works ice cold beer all winter... literally

How’s things going. It’s been a pleasant weekend so far. Lots of yard work today. Tomorrow I’m stable shopping. I hope I find a place

I hope you find a good place as well. You've had a difficult time finding the right fit!

So many places have just closed up shop. My generation of owning a horse for enjoyment and trail rides is being pushed out. Places can’t make money on us. To stay afloat they have to cater to high end clients so the average guy is priced out. Most stables now cater to dressage and show jumpers. Their board bills are close to 8 or 9 hundred a month. The small places are either too far north or full. I am paying just under 500 a month now if I get in. It’s terrible.

Wow! That's a lot and that's a shame. I take it keeping her home for the winter is not gonna be workable?

It’s what’s going to happen if I can’t find a place. I am a bit fussy too lol. This horse economy change has been in progress doe a while. The covid accelerated things. A lot of places just folded or sold out to the money. I am so happy I grew up in simpler times.
