I like the name and the nickname Butters is cute too. When I name a pet now, I look them right in the eyes and ask them what their name is. To my surprise I since I have started doing this, I actually get a name in my head. Now maybe it's just my imagination but you never know lol. This started with my two-year-old cat. He was a bottle-fed kitten because his mom abandoned him. He was the sole survivor. When I realized I was too attached and was going to keep him, I picked up this tiny scrawny kitten and asked him his name. To my total surprise I got bold block letters in the front of my head that said TOBY. I had never thought of that name at all. So, I felt he had communicated it. I have since done it a few times and the same thing has happened. I think we can communicate however we just don't try and then listen and trust our intuition. Of course, you are the dad and can choose a new name too.
