I'm sure this has been addressed elsewhere.

When I was a kid, it was always assumed and was kinda urban legend for the time......... that 12:00 a.m. was the hour where strangeness occurred. If anything bad could and would happen it'd be midnight or in that area.

So flash forward 30 years. I notice (as does my teenage daughter) that whenever anything slightly strange ever happened in or around the house that it always seemed to me 3 a.m. On several occasions there would be a weird occurrence and........... it'd be 3 a.m. Central time, standard.

I've heard many other people talk about their paranormal experiences and surprisingly 3 a.m. seemed to come up over and over. And in the US it didn't seem to matter whether they were in the Eastern Time Zone or Pacific. 3 was the time peak weirdness seemed to be at it's optimum level.

    So why is this?

I have a few answers.....I'll be back. But 3 am is actually the true lowering of the veil. On chat at the moment but I'll be back with some more.

n folklore, the witching hour or devil's hour is a time of night associated with supernatural events. Creatures such as witches, demons and ghosts are thought to appear and to be at their most powerful. Black magic is thought to be most effective at this time. In the Western Christian tradition, the hour between 3 and 4 a.m. was considered a period of peak supernatural activity, due to the absence of prayers in the canonical hours during this period.[1] Women caught outside without sufficient reason during this time were sometimes executed on suspicion of witchcraft.[1] The phrase "witching hour" was first recorded in 1835.[2]

It is also the time of quiet....more minds are asleep, less chaotic energy floating around and this makes it easier for the other side to be seen or heard.

Here is a quote from Ray Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes:

“Oh God, midnight’s not bad, you wake and go back to sleep, one or two’s not bad, you toss but sleep again. Five or six in the morning, there’s hope, for dawn’s just under the horizon. But three, now, Christ, three A.M.! Doctors say the body’s at low tide then. The soul is out. The blood moves slow. You’re the nearest to dead you’ll ever be save dying. Sleep is a patch of death, but three in the morn, full wide-eyed staring, is living death! You dream with your eyes open. God, if you had strength to rouse up, you’d slaughter your half-dreams with buckshot! But no, you lie pinned to a deep well-bottom that’s burned dry. The moon rolls by to look at you down there, with its idiot face. It’s a long way back to sunset, a far way on to dawn, so you summon all the fool things of your life, the stupid lovely things done with people known so very well who are now so very dead – And wasn’t it true, had he read somewhere, more people in hospitals die at 3 A.M. than at any other time...”

I thought the new scary hour was 4:44 am!!!!!! But, truthfully, I HATE waking up at 3 am. So true, 1-2am people are still awake. 4-5 people are getting up. 3? Makes my skin crawl. Regardless, I agree time is man made....so are my fears and I'm a big chicken but love finding all this paranormal talk....

I have always been told that 3 am is the “anti” Christ hour. Not in reference to the evil person but the opposite of the time Christ died on the cross. The devil or neg entries are said to mock God in being active at this time.

This is all I have on this. There seems to be an opposit to everything. Goodness seems associated with the day and light. Evil seems associated with darkness and night. Perhaps our own perceptions have created this.

I've been awoken many times at or near 3 am. Usually, it's the whispering of my name, but in the past, it's also been an interrupting dream such as of a person at my door banging, and screaming "Let me in!". When I would just stare at him, he would come through the door "I said let me in!". And I'd wake up with my heart racing. You aren't supposed to remember dreams.

Why do you think we’re not suppose to remember dreams?
