Critter might have a point. Are we talking about a supermarket tomato that looks like a tomato, but tastes like.. nothing?

In contrast, the sensation of eating a vine-ripened garden tomato is, all by itself, reason enough for the universe to exist. Just like cheese, beer, and good Irish whiskey.

I buy the tomatoes on the vine. They have a decent taste, but not nearly as good as a home grown in summer. Salt, pepper, and that mayo make it all good to go.
