15 Most Legendary Swords

This is my Crane Kitana. This is not the original scabbard as the original scabbard was wood and was damaged. This is a cheaper metal one but it still fits. This is a fully functional sword which was several hundred dollars. I try to get a close-up picture of the tsuba, the hand guard which has the crane on it.

cool, handle looks long, is it an odachi? or just the angle of the pic, ?.....carbon steel?.... gotta love swords and knives. they just call out to ya if the right one passes by

It’s just the angle. It’s steel. I gave 7 to my nephew. I miss them now. Lol. I may get a few more. I have an older display sword from Japan that I just attached to my work shelf last weekend. I had to cut into the wood so the hand guard would fit. Lol.

have you built your own yet?, unwrap the handle, tap the pins out, remove the handle and guard. get some oak and carve it down to fit, do the same for the scabbard. glue up and let it go...lol.... leave the guard off and you have a shirasaya. if done well the sheath and handle will be a continuous piece and blend together... awesome look, love a shirasaya style...and its easy to store..... (also the proper way to store actually).... if you want to continue using the guard you can even buy actual ray skin to wrap the handle in for a true authentic piece.......

I haven't but, it has crossed my mind. I certainly am capable. I almost bought a bamboo shirasaya about 25 years ago, complete with blood groove. And I just noticed the guard is actually upside down. Lol. This one is fake ray skin, one of the ones I gave my nephew was real ray skin. What was I thinking? Lol
