I've seen a Ferrari with a dropped suspension that was virtually touching the ground and that thing wasn't even as low as this person's intelligence.
 
The station doesn't appear to be crowded. Why not just move the car when you realize the mistake ? Have you all noticed the arrow on many newer car gas gauges that shows you the side to which your filler cap is located ? It comes in handy on rental or unfamiliar cars.
 
They really got out of the car and saw they pulled up on the wrong side and were like "nah im going to make this work"
