Hitchin' a Ride

Taxis were always driven by strangers, Uber is just a fancy name for the same!
This is true in the fact that they are strangers and could pose a threat, but a taxi driver has to be listened with the company they work for, which should mean background checks and a record of who they are. I don't know how much security Uber drivers have to go through; I could be way off on this. It just seems that a Taxi business would have a lot to lose if an employee did something stupid.

I do know that an Uber driver tried to use my credit card for personal business. My daughter was stranded with my granddaughter in a snowstorm one night, and phoned me to ask if I could pay for an Uber ride. A week later, I found that the driver had somehow used my credit card info to pay for a purchase, in another state that I had never lived in.

Oh, that's awful, did you get your money back?

I have spoke this before... but will do again... beginning when I was 15 (1968) until I was 17 (1970) I criss-crossed the Country from Oklahoma to the West Coast to the East Coast several times... hitchhiking... I was blessed, protected.... I suppose... and it was a different day. Only once did I feel threatened... but, not being a stupid girl... had a tire iron right there...YES... I'd have killed someone in an iinstant. Uber? New predator's... new day.
