An interesting read. I would agree with the idea put forward that shadow people are not really a different type of entity itself but rather a way we see the various types of entities.

There is the theory that a shadow person is simply an incomplete manifestation, something trying to show itself but we simply can't perceive anything beyond a mist or shadow form. I've also heard that these beings might also see us as shadow people as well, like that's as much form that can be seen through the veil without someone or something powerful enough to "boost the signal" so to speak.

I've often wondered if part of the reason that certain non-human entities (demons, djinn, elementals, ect) are seen as being monsterous or exotic in appearance, they can't really see us well enough to know what we look like and therefore choose a form based on guesswork. An inaccurate manifestation viewed by someone unable to perceive all the details could definitely be misinterpreted as something much more terrifying than it needs to be. A good example would be something like the Hat Man. In our modern day we can look at odd protrusions from the head and guess it's the brim of a hat, but in a time when fashion senses were very different those same protrusions might interpreted as pointy ears or even horns.
