Oh, sure. You might also look for used bicycles. Many folks get one and decide that they really don't want to ride after all. If it's just around the park, you should be able to pick up something used to suit your needs.
 
So Critter do you think I should just go down to bike shop? I want to be able to ride up a hill but not a mountain

Yes. It would help to get some education. Let them tell you what to look for, fit you to a bike so you know what size, etc. You don't have to purchase from them to get some education.
