Saturday's wandering around Brussels shopping and getting a waffle or two freshly made by street vendors, all that sugar...

Open face omellete au fines herbes.

Belgian beer to wash down a croque monsieur if made with mozzarella and a couple of places did that.

Bratwurst and fries from street vendors fast food places and the variation currywurst. Himmel un Ääd (Heaven and Earth), in Cologne Germany Named for the two main ingredients, apples (from the sky) and potatoes (from the ground), this dish resembles mashed potatoes but has distinct apple flavour and sweetness. It is most often served with blood sausage.

Also in Germany schnitzel.

Spanish tortilla with choriza.

Paella the meat variation but you need to bring friends to share since you get a huge pan.

So much more but these are some of my favourites.

I'm glad that I just ate. Otherwise, I would be raiding the fridge. I hope that you, Tony, are able to get some local favorites of yours.

Apples go with a lot of foods, because of the contrasting flavors. Pork chops with cooked apples and cinnamon are a favorite of mine.
you guys have got me starving.. lol good thing going to be cooking here in a minute.. hahaha

This once again reminds me of how very differently we all cook. All of that sounds delicious, but rare it would be to find any such dishes here in the US. Unless in an ethnic neighborhood with grandma's who still remember how to make these things!

I can sometimes get Spanish tortilla with choriza in the local supermarket, It's good but nothing like my Portuguese ex made. I can do it too following her recipe and method but half of it ends up on the kitchen floor.

We traditionally have pureed apples with pork, in the heaven and earth dish fried onion bits are sprinkled over the blood pudding which is to die for. Here ya go...
