New theory suggests that we travel to Parallel Universes when we dream

We have long been fascinated by the concept of dreaming and what they may reveal. With many different theories ranging from psychic glimpses into our future to a glimpse at our innermost thought and desires, scientists are more interested than ever in understanding this phenomenon.

Every night, humans have an average of 6-10 dreams. A few minutes after being awoken, these dreams are usually forgotten. However, what if there’s actual meaning to dreams that would make them more lucrative to remember?

Have you ever experienced a dream that was so real and life-like that you felt like you were literally there in the moment? You can feel the breeze on your face, smell the fresh cut grass or taste the food that touched your lips.

These realistic dreams feel like much more than just a creation of our imagination. A new science-based theory might actually reveal this to be true…

Modern science, as well as Native American tribes and Mexican nations, believe that we, or at least our brains visit a “parallel universe” when we dream. This would explain why humans can dream in color, and can senses with all five feelings what’s happening within the dream.

It all starts with the existence of the multiverse, the idea that our universe isn’t the only one out there, in fact, it is just one of many. Within each of these universes is a new reality, one that, while similar to our own, is altered in some way by the decisions that we’ve made.

This is a concept that scientists have entertained and explored for many years, however, a controversial 2010 study revealed evidence that there may actually be other universes in existence.

Consider the last major decision you made in your life. Maybe you moved to a new town for your dream job. In a parallel universe, another version of ‘you’ may exist that chose, instead, to stay in your hometown and pass on the job.

This one change in your narrative then creates a ripple effect, changing every area of your life from that moment on.

If you have ever dreamt of your life, but it appeared a little different – maybe you were living in a different house or a different town, you were working a different job, or you find yourself involved with a different partner.

What you may actually be experiencing at that moment is a glimpse at your life in a parallel universe. The dream itself feels SO real as if you’re actually standing there, because it, in fact, is real – just in an alternate world. This is the life that the alternate you has created.

People often have a recurring dream about a place they never visited, or even heard of. Perhaps such dreams are glimpses from what one experienced in a parallel Universe.

Sometimes people dream about events that have not yet happen but will take place in the future. Such dreams could also be incoming images from an alternate world where you are living a different life.

Who knows, perhaps some of our most special dreams are a window into a parallel universe. This is of course pure speculation, but without speculation and scientific curiosity we will never be able to learn more about the secrets of the Universe and our reality.

So, can some of our dreams be glimpses of events taking place in an alternate reality, a parallel Universe?

If our dreams are, in fact, a glimpse into an alternate life, can we use them to explore these worlds? Are we no longer limited to just our own universe? Much further study is required, but this may be the start of some incredible discoveries in the future.

What are your thoughts on this? Is a lucid dream perhaps a visit to a different universe?

I have often speculated about this theory! I had shared here on PNF about visiting other countries or times in dreams, but having it feel so real that I wondered if I had been dreaming, or not. I think this article is on to something for sure.

the whole multiverse topic I find fascinating, but must admit it is waaaaay over my head....lol.... extremely mind boggling when you realize the full scope of such an idea, if every choice we make is played out in another reality,.... that is just beyond my comprehension.... and then I start wondering things like, does all my other "copies" also have choices to make in their dimension and is every choice they could face also played out... and so forth and so forth..... the magnitude of that is beyond understanding.....(at least for my simple mind)

but now this paragraph has me thinking of this, (remember, simple mind...lol)...so ill just put it here to get it outta my head....lol

I think that this is possible but then sometimes I'm not sure that my consciousness returns to the same version of reality every time that I sleep and then return. Do you ever wake up and for a while, something just seems to be slightly off? After a little while, you adjust and seem to accept your new reality and assume that it is as it has always been. Perhaps the dream was the life that you thought you remembered from before you slept...or now you are dreaming until you wake again... I remember a Twilight Zone episode that was about this.

Yup...I have felt that before, Dan. It's very weird. Which is why when I saw this story I thought the same thing. I'm not sure I buy into the whole theory of it, but, if even some of the time we "travel" to a different dimension, are we the ghosts over there? (I know, my mind is weird but it does make you think.)

I think I remember that episode; is it where the guy wakes up to a situation where his wife doesn't know who he is, then he wakes again and doesn't recognize his wife?

And yes, I experience that feeling that when I wake, I have come back to a slightly different reality, where things seem a bit off. Sometimes I swear that when I open my eyes, things are still shifting back into place.

I guess you could consider earth, heaven and hell 3 different dimensions, and when we dream of a long lost relative we are getting messages from another dimension.
I finally had a dream of my grandfather that passed away 10 years ago, and saw him at the far end of a room where he walked into the door and just said " you need to exercise" Short dream, he used to always give me advice.

The parallel universe theory is a bit of a stretch for me. I've always considered dreams to be windows into our unconscious, that ever present part of ourselves that we are typically unaware of and that is represented symbolically or through archetypes and not through ordinary language; though we may receive spoken or written messages during our dreams. Misconceptions about ourselves and our relation to the world are always represented through ordinary language while we are awake. Dreams thus never lie. Dreams are always telling us the truth. And that is why it is always so important to look at the symbols that make up our dreams and draw parallels to our ordinary waking lives. Being able to dream is the greatest gift that we have to break though our often tragic egos and see ourselves as we truly are. Therefore, aside from the breath-taking experiences that are dreams may afford us, truth seekers should experience and reflect on their dreams in terms of this utilitarian aspect. My conviction therefore is that any conjectures about multi-verses or other similarly unprovable notions amounts to idle speculation and serves only to confuse things for those who are unaware of this foundational utilitarian aspect to their dreams.

Most of my regular dreams are just disjointed bits and pieces out of my subconscious that only make sense while you are dreaming it. Some, however, are more like I am viewing or experiencing another possible reality. The regular dreams fade fast when you wake. If you want to examine them you need to write them down as soon as you wake or most of the details will be lost. Even nightmares usually just leave you with the fear but no clear view of what exactly was causing your fear. SOMETHING was after you but a few minutes after you wake what it had been exactly faded away.

The other sorts of dreams are very different. You spend some time after you wake sorting out that it was a dream and even then memories of it will return to you off and on for several days to even a couple of weeks. It is possible that these more realistic dreams are still some sort of subconscious coping system...but then there are the ones that seem to fade a bit and then you seem to at least partially relive them in real life.

In my case, my clairvoyant peeks, can even intrude into my dreams at times. Most dreams have little meaning to my everyday life. Even among the more "real life" dream types most don't impinge into my most current reality. The ones that haunt me though are more likely to have some sort of message in them for me. What is strange to me is that the things that I might seem to foresee can be as trivial as seeing an old friend that I have not seen for a while or I drop a glass and it breaks. ???

In a lot of these dreams, I am so much more than I am normally and seem to have a clear understand of EVERYTHING and am able to do impossible things by simple force of will. When I awake it is all gone except the clear memory of the understanding that I am no longer what I was. I have often wondered if, in truth, I am asleep now or only partially awake. There is a sadness like a person that was once an amazing athlete that is now crippled by arthritis and can barely walk might feel...
