Worst one...

I like steak and kidney pie; it needs to have just enough kidney to make the steak taste amazing by comparison without ruining it. :) Kidney doesn't taste like metal to me, however broccoli tastes like chewy machine parts. My parents gave up trying to get me to eat it and I'm glad!
That's true about the amount of kidney,my gran used to grate a little in and it was good,my mum used to put about half chunks of kidney, half meat and it wasn't lol.

When I was young over here offal was popular including brains and tripe,I think I was the odd person that didn't like it.

I think (ha!) brains is the only organ meat that I’ve never tried. Certainly not as a main course. If I have had it, it was inside of something else and I did not identify it. I’ve eaten more than my share of varied animal testicles and thoracic organs for certain. And, I always tell people who offer me tongue that I “prefer not to taste food which can taste me back.”

Lol,brains are like pure fat, oil.I forgot about tongue, that's not too bad, like beef pate.I could imagine you'd feel the pain in every bite of testicles. The old bushies here used to eat them raw, straight off the lambs lol.

Anyone have any marginal food items - like something atypical that you have been considering trying? Or, anyone want to share a “fun name” for a questionable food item?

I’ll go first:

1. I’ve eaten meal worms - they were the key ingredient in a cookie.
2. “Calf Fries” - sliced, battered, and deep fried bull testicles.

A few things I can remember.
One was smoked haddock poached in milk. I tried it once and almost threw up, but because my dad liked it it would be cooked almost once a week...which reminded me that I wanted to throw up. That stuff stinks.
Another is Oranges. I can't stand the white fluffy bits if I peel them myself, but even worse is the smell if somebody else is eating an orange in the room, which was unfortunate because my brother liked them and there was always a big bowl full of them at Christmas. I later found out I was allergic to orange oil.

Marginal food items - I think Wands wins with the mealworms, but I regularly like blackpudding with a fry up. Not sure if you have it there but is basically just pigs blood and chopped fat soaked into oats then stuffed in intestines.

And the Haggis of course.

Rowan, I almost didn’t make it through your first sentence. That fish dish sounds like something you’d use to out an alien! “Aha! You took the bait and chose the milky stinky fish! You must be an alien!”

I’m not certain I’ve had haggis but I’ve had it’s cousin the blood sausage - not a fan but if hungry enough, I’m sure I’d eat it again.

I’m sorry you are allergic to orange oil. I find oranges to be one of the most refreshing fruits. Let me ask, do you tolerate other citrus like lemons, limes, grapefruit, etc.?

Let me also ask respectfully, what the hell is that thing in the photo???
