Hi, I am new here. I joined because of some strange things happening recently to myself and my 24 year old daughter. We live in a 2 bedroom massionette and recently some strange things have been occurring, on there own not that significant and possibly can be explained but I would appreciate some advice please.

I have some battery operated lights in my lounge and they are switched off, but come on at random moments each night despite being turned off. My daughter heard footsteps running up the stairs and towards her room when we were all out. Today, I woke early for work, it was still dark so I turned on my lamp, it didn't work, I went to work came home and it was on. My daughter and her boyfriend noticed lots of flies in the kitchen and shut the door, I checked for a source and decided the only thing could be the bin, but it didn't look like they were coming from there.

I have no doorbell anymore as we had a late night caller that used to ring in the middle of the night and we removed the battery, its not wired up so no source to ring, yet in the middle of the night it still sounds.

My daughter noticed all the kitchen doors are open every morning, despite being closed when we go to bed at night.

All little things but to be honest they are starting to worry me a bit. I am not scared by it but my daughter is.

Another worrying incident is my front door lock was snapped off this weekend, we have arranged to have a new door but we have to wait a week for it to be fitted, so feel a little vulnerable to a possible break in, not sure if this is a separate issue to the lights going on and off as that's quite physical and would have taken considerable effort to snap off.

My next door neighbour moved last year, the man was a medium and used to say they had spirits in their massionette, when they left they gave me an ornamental buddah to put outside our house that they didn't take with them, is this connected? Also my mum died last year and my neighbour didn't know about it at the time, but the weekend after my mum died, she said she got a message for someone with my name that I was feeling depressed and alone and needed help...a coincidence my mum had just died or not?

My mum was a very down to earth lady but we always joked if she could return and let me know there was something more then she would.

Am I going mad?

Hi Jenny. I need to move your thread to a different area named Your Paranormal Experiences. Hope you don't mind the move, but it will get better views there and more answers. After I move you, you will have to refresh the page between posts to see replies. I will also give you a quick answer or two.

thank you, I agree. I have just found this place and wasn't sure where the most appropriate place to post this was. :)

Ok, all moved over and people will be able to find you better here. First, you have quite a list there, some of which or all of which may have non-paranormal causes. It will take some investigating and discernment on your part as to which may have a simple answer that is not paranormal. That is how we find out what actually IS paranormal...we rule out what may be normal causes. If we can't rule those out, then we know we have to look at the paranormal world.

Some of what you describe, and the connections they appear to have, may have that paranormal connection. I'm in the middle of cooking dinner at the moment, but I will be back in about an hour or so and will try to give you some concrete places to start figuring this out. In the meantime, do know that so far nothing has harmed anyone, so I would reassure your daughter at this point that it is rare for a ghost or entity to cause any harm. More of a nuisance than a threat it what it appears you have. So, with that, I shall return.

Thank you Debi, I am open minded about this and it doesn't actually make me feel scared, I hear the doorbell go off (and its not always the same ring tone) and I think, oh here we go again, wait for it to finish then go to sleep . My daughter however is very frightened so I would like to reassure her if possible.

I was watching the television the other night in darkness when suddenly the room lit up and realised the battery operated fairy lights had switched on, I turned them off, went to bed thinking it was maybe a faulty battery situation but I have another set of battery operated lights that are doing the same thing, the light by my bed is electrical and plugged in, and when it didn't go on this morning I assumed the bulb had blown. but as I approached my house I noticed my bedroom was lit up from outside, got in went up to my room and the lamp was shinning brightly

I am lying here in bed, it is 22.29 in the UK, not sure where most posters on here are from, and not sure whether to turn my lamp off or not, in case it goes back on. I am also listening to various bangs and noises coming from downstairs. I have placed items against the front door as the lock was damaged, to make sure we are safe from intruders but I keep hearing noises like someone is moving around downstairs, I will check in a minute but know there wont be anyone there.

One thing that is odd about the doorbell thing, I wake up just before it goes off, almost like I know its about to happen what ever time it is. Last night it went at 2.22 am
