Good evening everyone,
I found this forum while researching the paranormal. Many women in my family have had unexplainable experiences that I’ve learned about as an adult. They are very open. My husband thinks they’re a bit of their rockers so I keep this buried. As a child I had several frightening experiences. Once while in Boston, Waltham actually, my mom was driving she stopped the car for a light or something. A young boys face appeared pressed against my car window, his hands and face were against the glass and he looked terrified. I cried and had nightmares afterward but didn’t tell anyone. Another time we were at a movie theatre in my home town and, this sounds weird but I have no other way to describe it, I felt there was a man inside the wall. I saw a skeletal being looking down at me from a tall point in a concrete false half column in the wall. There’s a number of things that happened but one of the terrifying ones was while visiting my aunt and her teenage children in Minnesota. My cousin had a poster of a horned demon on a pile of bodies on his wall. He was really into scary stuff at the time, drugs included. He’s a doting father now but he still has a grim reaper tattoo. I had a nightmare that reflected the image from the poster and I woke up in a panic. In the corner of the room I saw what I can only describe as whispy strands of white material dancing. Like semi solid smoke moving. Once again I was to terrified to say anything. These all happened before I was ten years old. The last experience I had was at a lock-in at my church as a teenager. I was playing hide and go seek and hid in a dark auditorium. I looked across the room and just past the seats, those foldable metal kind, was a man in a robe, he was floating across the space and was essentially transparent orange being. I watched for a moment before he looked at me at which point I ran away. Once again I kept quiet. I literally met up with my friends and went on as usual without skipping a beat. But now as an adult I find myself revisiting that moment I’m my church. The others I can dismiss somewhat as being young and maybe over imaginative. I guess why I am here is to ask if anyone has experienced something similar. Also, I wonder if I may have suppressed a natural ability out of fear. I’d like to know if it’s possible to reawaken that part of myself. I’ve experienced premonitions that came true since then and other odd little things like thinking of someone then they call. I apologize if this is too long, or the wrong place to post. I’m very curious.

Hi Red! You are in the right place and welcome. If you are interested in learning, this forum is a good start. Lots of info here.

Yes, it is possible to supress abilities for a very long time. It's also possible to build on them and learn to "listen" again. What are your main interests to learn about first? It's a very big world of possibles here.

G'day Red,you sound an open person,my paranormal experiences started as a child and were at their peak in my twenties, they all but stopped through my 30's and 40's but are back with a vengeance now.Everyone's different,so don't write them off yet.Talking with like minded people often helps with your awareness.Welcome to the forum.

Not sure if it's paranormal or just something that can be explained; like a house settling or the wind, something like that. I recently moved in to a house, and the first night I stayed here, I heard some bumps and bangs and all that. Sounded like something dropped down from the closet. There wasn't too bad of a creepy feeling tho, it just happened everytime I tried going to sleep. Then, since then I haven't really heard too much except for an occasional bump or something in the night. Well, last night, I was awoken to the sound of what seemed like someone walking up my hallway from the living room, it's a long hallway and hard wood flooring, it alarmed me enough to get up and walk through my house to inspect it, (I have 2 kids and we live by ourselves) but there was nothing. So I layed back down, however it seemed like the atmosphere in my daughter's room had changed somewhat it was a little darker and fuzzy? is one way to describe it. I have 2 kittens as well who lay in the bed with us, they were following something on the ceiling going from one corner to the other and when I looked to what they were looking at, I saw nothing, not even a bug or anything. One even looked directly behind my head but I still couldn't see anything. This morning, while getting my daughter ready, I smelled burning hair. It was strong and when I left the house I didn't smell it anymore. But, I went back to school for her veterans day program and I smelled it again and became really anxious out of no where. So, coincidence or natural cause? Also, the other night, my son's father brought him back from visiting and mentioned he thought that at one point in time, here recently, he had a dark spirit attached to him but never said how he got rid of it. That was kind of odd. But opinions are very welcomed. Sorry for the long post.

Hi Miranda. Do you know anything about the history of the house?

thank you everyone. I felt vulnerable sharing this part of myself and your warm welcomes mean a lot. I haven’t talked my experiences much. They were so out of the ordinary I‘ve pushed them away. I feel ready now but also things have been “quiet”. Ozentity, I am in my 30’s myself. Maybe during these years were less open somehow. I am preoccupied with my young family. Never much quiet or rest, but I love having a family very much. Debi, I’m interested in exercises I can do to practice and strengthen my intuition. I think that’s a good place to start. I’m reading the forums here and learning a lot from them. Miranda what’s happening in your home sounds frightening, something more than the creaks and groans of an old home settling. Do you know anything about the history of the house? Are your daughters experiencing it? I have two girls also.

I believe you may be onto something there, was the same for me,your just too busy doing Earthly chores at that time.I'm finding my time now more spiritual and understanding the paranormal a bit better than when I was young.

Welcome to the forum Miranda, when I moved into my current farm house it had been sitting unoccupied for some time and I had similar experiences to yours.I believe entities or spirits take up residence when no one is around. The events slowly dwindled and disappeared after about six months, but I did let whatever it was know it was my home now so it should move on.I've felt "things" in brand new homes too,so I don't thinks it's always caused by bad or traumatic events from the past, but in other cases it most certainly is.
