Agoraphobia? Autism link to psychic skills?

This fits the bill for my condition almost to a tee.I have a friend who's daughter has Asperger's and she has trouble communicating with almost everyone, strangely I have always got on great with her and just seem to "get" each other,I always wondered if I had some similar condition, but I feel society has to label you when you don't fit in the box and no two people are the same anyway.
The autistic scale is a scale because no two are alike. You can have very different levels and very different symptoms, Oz. My adult son is a very high function autistic. To meet him he appears like anyone else...until he has to leave the room because he can't deal with the energy, can't look you in the eye, and can't handle social settings. However, it's my belief that those with Autism have a unique brain capacity to be extremely empathic and wide open to most psychic activity.

I hate labels, too, but knowing that this may be something that gives you an extra boost on the psychic side of things may help explain why and how you function in this world. Don't get caught up in the semantics or labels, but if you fall on the spectrum at least you have the knowledge of what and why some things happen for you. I consider my son simply normal with boosted skills due to his autism. It's like having upgraded radar! :)

Interesting to note that we have many members here who have let me know they fall within the spectrum.

I am glad that she has you to talk to!

Thanks Debi you explain things well,I too think its a gift in many ways and wouldn't consider taking meds for it if that's what they suggest for this.I've yet to meet a perfect person and I don't know who would judge them as being one lol.

Your welcome! Nothing to medicate here. It's a skill, it's a gift.

Oz, I know you started this thread, but I'm going to move it up to spiritual area, as I think it is leaning more towards that. If you don't mind I'm going to add to your title as well. Interesting topic you've led us to.

There are schools of thought that treat autism as a "disorder" and try to medicate or train it away, but I have always been against this. I have a younger sister who is considered "low" on the spectrum, but she can produce beautiful artwork.

Garnet, I have always honored each soul as perfect by the hand of the Divine. You come to this realm as you were meant to be. Medication can be useful for specific physical things, ie spasms or even chemical imbalances of the brain. But in my opinion, autism is none of that. It is the way the brain is "wired", and many times, as with your sister, special gifts are the result. We need to learn to find the beauty in everyone who may be different. Like wildflowers in a field, there are many different kinds but flowers they all are.

It seems a lot of people with great talent have what society would consider a disorder, artists, poets.I think these people contribute a great deal more to society than the average joe with their looking outside the square way of thinking.

That is an awesome way of putting it!
