Footage has emerged this week of an alleged 'poltergeist' causing havoc in a historic pub in England.
The video, which was filmed in Ye Old Shambles Tavern in York, shows supervisor Luke Smithson working at the bar when a stack of boxes and other items suddenly come flying off a nearby shelf.

The incident happened at 7.20am on Monday July 1st.

"I was just about to do my second line clean," said Smithson. "I walked around the bar and suddenly everything just flew from the shelves. All the boxes flew all over the bar. A couple of glasses came off as well. There was proper force behind it - even the speaker on the top shelf was knocked down."

The building itself is no stranger to paranormal occurrences with staff members previously reporting the sound of mysterious disembodied footsteps echoing in its rooms after closing time.

Whether something otherworldly accounts for this particular occurrence however remains unclear.

I'm probably one of the few blokes in oz that doesn't like pubs.To me they just have too many negative vibes and often seem to be haunted.I don't like letting my guard down around a bunch of drunk strangers.

After my dad died, I was in the computer room. Above the computer, on the shelf are many stuffed animals. When I was at the computer, a red stuffed toy bear was pushed very hard off of the shelf. It was harmless and softly hit the floor.

We had this heavy platter sitting on top of our microwave, filled with seashells. On the wall behind the microwave was a plastic room thermometer. One day the thermometer suddenly slipped off the wall, landed on the platter, and the platter shattered into pieces. The wall thermometer was very light in weight, and it puzzled us as to why it was able to break that heavy platter. Even more interesting was the fact that the platter had been a wedding present.

One time I was arguing with the on/off girlfriend in her bathroom, and a picture of her and her son flew off the wall next to us. The argument stopped after that.

We were probably arguing too, which happens a lot in those first years of marriage, lol.
