I have been following This for years as have you. The person who first pointed the newly named phenomenon out was in college, found out with friends, and shared thus Mandella phenomenon with me when words / spellings seemed to be changing...
..... I had mentioned observing apparent non localized jargon, slang and homoginizing effect ; I had posited of a possible international English re format /guessing about un announced word revisions...being a retired high school teacher, I have met hundreds of former students returned after college entry checking in.
and this college student with a 99 or 100 percentile SAT turns to me and says-" no the history of the word changed look... according to (sources) its always been spelled lah lah lah (gave series examples of words) Then proceeded to give links to Mandella effect bloggers saying to me calmly, this explains "it" "
What? What it? What up! What fo you mean? I sais. They stated, That words they memorized & won spelling bees changed had never been / but they have visual image of both words & math graphing . They said the words & images of words different base words spelling was obvious by xxx (year) a clear indicator of a change between previous visually scanned memorized reference word forms and the present (date the college students expressing this concern aloud.
Being my most authoritative, I advised memorizing the new spellings & use current spell check on documents to fit in; not utilize old spellings on chat notes or submitted documents - as quick as they were identified & adapt as fast as can so not to loose place in program internship they replied:"yeah /you think! " I was thinking about money loss if loosing college internship in some futile Don Quijote jousting at windmills in something they couldnt effect or impact/ but which publically protesting by demanding to use prior memorized & now non dictionary standard word forms because they were "right" like a memorized dogma - was too rigid a stance in the face of overwhelming change /linguistic change / word referent; word origins; some metaphor & referant imagery change- ... the college student pointed out examples to me & we both agreed learning current standard referent jargon spellings & public emails docs all to be scanned. Act & adapt. it was a memorable coaching moment. I even used used two not one motivators: the rubber band which stretches without breaking just like me/ just like you & the : ball bounces back when it hits the ground just like me/ just like you; the ball bounces back in a word attack; maybe I used the phrase " brilliant & resilient (because it rhymes.) It was a memorable coaching experience- I didnt want this student to wipe out in a college internship just because lexicon non standard spelling suddenly was standard midstream. I recall telling them : you are young you can memorize anything -- vocabulary.
Fast forward to last week when You posted this youtube link. We are still in contact, and I asked the individual who first pointed out the Mandella effect phenomenon to me when I complained about random short simple words spelling apparently becoming non standard. Upon watching the you tube, with the query is this one of your friends ---- is it a spoof or is the company real? Are they actually upset blaming data flaws in data driven business on the Mandella effect?
My most sincere mandella effect believer stated (about the video) I dont know/ both real company or mb its cya -
(Re orders?) I dk
I do know, getting millions of viewers to see this normalized the cognitive distortion of noting changed spellings, changed word origins. To me, thats a form of "DISCLOSURE." And the speaker being not quite clean shaven, wearing glasses, saying they owned a business, they had workers, smart workers --they all noticed. Co owner gestured, camera panned in: Calm sitting down polite pleasant people on cue: give a productive example of how to act.
Its a great video. We need more disclosure things like this.
