I was wondering what people think about this.I was seeing a women 30 odd years ago who had been through a horrific childhood and while she could have times of normality would always fall back into trouble. One time I went to pick her up from her home with my brother as we were going to the beach,as we were leaving her home the three of us saw a girl sitting on the bed in their spare room as we walked past.We got in the car and all said at the same time we had seen this girl.I turned the car around and we headed back.Dispite searching the home we found no trace of the young girl, nobody had left the house except us, according to my girlfriends mum.Weeks later we were going through photos and the girl was in one, looking sad and scared as we had seen her.My girlfriend said the pic was of her at 11 after she had been badly abused.I always wondered if her spirit had left her body at this time and never returned. We split and she spiralled into self destruction,I believe because she was a shell of her former happy young self.I tried everything to help her but fought a losing battle.

I have heard of people under extreme stress "imprinting" into an area their feelings....which would be the same as a residual ghost. A residual imprint is left by a living person...they need not be dead to be a residual ghost. What you encountered may have been her imprint from a time past.

This would mean it is possible to leave a ghost image of a traumatic event - even before the person is dead -which I find fascinating.

Mostly I do see traumatic events - so that is what is recorded, maybe regardless of the persons death.
The imprint happens when the person is living. It's the emotion/energy that gets "taped" like on a tape recorder. This can also happen at the time of death, but most residual hauntings are playbacks of scenes with the living person being in a stressful situation. That person will, of course, die at some point, but the imprint is done at the time of the event you are viewing. This may also happen for repetitious events...ie someone walking down a hallway every day for years.

I remember several accounts of people seeing ghosts sat at windows - where the person sat many times over the years, or grandpa sitting in the chair on the porch as he always did etc.

On a similar note I clearly remember an old guy 2 doors down from me. He would sit out there in a wheelchair sometimes, and once came over for a chat while I was working on the car.
Then one day I saw a car pull up, and various mobilty aids were packed up, and a few days later I heard that their grandad had died.
About 2 weeks later I saw him out front again and smiled at me while i was putting things in the boot.
I didn't twig at first. It was only after a month or so I realised that this was their grandad!
Never saw him again after that. But if I ever do - I'm heading over for a chat !

I've never heard of this but it fits perfectly.I can still remember the look on the young girls face as clear as day,it was a very clear image at the time yet nobody stopped when we first saw her.I knew it wasn't a flesh and blood person.

It is odd that none of you said anything until you got outside.

Any likelihood of the energy used to imprint, being a missing part of the person? Perhaps even a part they would benefit having back?
