Its an old way of reassuring youngsters when they lose a family member or a pet that the departed become a star in the heavens. You point one out to the 5 or 6year old to let them know things are ok and they gaze in wonderment. The thing is, after my last 2 dogs passed I have gone outside at night and my eyes have been directed to a bright star moving sideways then disappearing. This happened again last night after I had my 17 year old pitbull cross put down.I know it sounds out there but it just seemed so real.Pic of my old mate Bubba at his last Christmas with me.

I’m sorry about your dog, and as to your question if us or pets become stars after death, yes it is very possible and maybe the star you saw was your dog trying to tell you that he’s with you. And to prove my point I have one real story of a young woman who lost her baby daughter. This happened years ago. I heard the story from a friend.

The woman had lost her daughter at the age of two or three, and after that she was devastated, she would look up the sky at nights and talk to a specific star about it crying. A year later or so she finally had another baby, a girl. She couldn’t be happier. Everything went well, one evening, when she took her now four year old daughter out to the park to play, the kid looked up the late evening sky and told her:

‘Look mom, you see that star? You would talk to it late at night to it about me. I was watching you from up there, that star was me.’ The woman realized the girl she had now was the same soul of the child she had lost years ago.

I hope this makes you feel better, and remember, everything is possible. Nothing is too surrealistic in this world we live in.

Thanks Fantasio,a sad story about the young girl,I've heard of this before,a childs spirit going into the next child. It shows how spiritually close families are.

I’m so sorry Oz. A good dog is a true family member. I believe we get signs in the way God knows will get the message through to us. I’m sure his spirit is shining brightly. We will all meet on the other side in my beliefs.

This is a beautiful account. Thanks for sharing.

I'm so sorry too ozentity. Truly. Any dog you have bonded with for that many years is family... and you mourn them as such. It is a sad thing for them to go on without us. I believe we all return to the Stars and I believe he will shine brightly for you when you miss him the most. So in those times, watch for him in the night Sky. I know dogs do not have the same barrier between here and there as humans. He will remain with you until you are ready to let him go. You'll see.

My heart goes out to you ozentity. You did a wonderful thing obeying his wishes.
A true friendship.
And yes, as hard as it is to make the call, it's also nice to be able to make it. More peaceful. A wish, if only could be granted, for all living thing's.
