OK, this has been wandering around in my brain for a bit now.

Let's assume someone makes an AI brain that mimics the capacity of the human brain. (That's the goal of this AI stuff from what I've heard.)

Now, let's also say that the brain is basically a receiver and we are dealing with non-local reality. If consciousness is streamed from "elsewhere", and this AI brain is able to connect with that stream, does it become a human consciousness complete with a soul?

Aaand your opinions please....

Easy and pompous answer is “Nope, not even.” At least I don’t think so. Just because AI might be able to mimic thinking does not mean AI is thinking. In my own selfish perception, one prerequisite to having a soul is to be self aware...self aware enough to be able to fear for ones own existence. So in my book the AI would have to achieve that status first. Just being connected to non-local stuffs isn’t enough.

If you are referring to a transmigration of consciousness from another " plane" you would be describing somes belief of reincarnation, only into an artificial " body" instead of a living one.....these beliefs also to an extent, leave out the soul part because that transcends all time and space, but is still always with " you" until reaching nirvana or whatever and becoming " one" with creation.....sooooooo, lol, maybe in one scenario there could be a soul involved.....great question/scenario to ponder on.

Clapping !!! Excellent answer. It would be a “Data” from Star Trek, an Android.
