I use an ad blocker and a VPN so I'm anonymous on the internet and nothing tracks me

something interesting.... I read an article that was talking about how every purchase you make at walmart and most big box stores now is kept in a data base for comparison over time to see how your shopping habits change...so even just shopping your habits and banking info is being tracked...same with medical...facebook is just a very small worry anymore, it has gotten so much bigger now.

Only if you allow yourself to be tracked. For small purchases I use a pre-paid card and a throwaway email address as well as the VPN

I know, it's my profession so second nature

I use social media to help my daughter manage a fan page she runs.

Personally, I have a Facebook page that's never touched, and a Mokey page for a few people. Just opened that up after it sat in hibernation over a year.

I want to get my stuff off the Facebook page associated with my identity and delete it. The task feels so overwhelming to me. So there it sits.

Not even and maybe not never. I have a Nest thermostat for example. I refuse to connect it to the internet.

I just think there's much more at risk and worriesome than Facebook......did you know now most highschool yearbooks are online and anyone can pull your pictures from them.....or if you're worried about hackers and such, well the DMV has all your info, including fingerprints on your license that can be hacked, that's everything about who you are. Or the IRS ....for a professional hacker there's much more info out there than what is available on Facebook....as far as cookies or tracking stuff, well that is available from most retailers and such databases....if your main concern is identity theft, well, that happens without you even being online at all...., S.S. numbers are stolen all the time..... If your worried about stalkers, that is understandable but is also unlikely and caution can be taken to minimalize that slim possibility, as far as gov fears, that cannot be stopped or hidden from, to many resources at their fingertips to fight against.....so I've decided to use what I need and really not let worry dictate my life or enjoyment..
