I just wanted to share a quick, bittersweet story of something that just happened earlier today.

First a bit of background; a little over two years ago my mother was diagnosed with cancer. She's been going through the treatments and fighting it. However, in December the doctor's told her that the cancer had spread and there was no more they could do. I flew back home with my wife and kids to see her. While we were out there she told me that she had the strangest dream, she had died and was flying around visiting the homes of her parents, her siblings and my sisters to say goodbye. But when she flew to my house she was sad to see that nobody was home. She woke up and realized that of course we weren't at our home because we were all there at her house.

This afternoon my sister called and told me that Mom had passed. I told my wife and children. My son asked if we could go for a walk. I wasn't really feeling up for a walk at that moment, so I stayed home while my wife went walking with the kids. While alone in the house I noticed all the lights flickering, which happens sometimes when the weather is bad. Except it's a clear, albeit cold day. Also the lights weren't flickering in unison but randomly. Further the computer and other electronics were unphased. I then remembered my mom's dream, I said aloud "Goodbye Mom" and the flickering stopped.

I wanted to share this experience but a lot people I know would be weirded out by such a story. Hopefully the fine folks who visit here can understand. Thanks for reading.

It is so wonderful to get evidence of life after death. I am sad to hear of your mothers passing and I’m sending you a virtual hug.

I believe you are right on your assessment of these events. Sounds like your mom was able to out of body travel to see all her loved ones.

Thanks for sharing , your story may help others to know, life does go on.

Sorry to hear about your mum Steve.Maybe the hardest person to lose in our lives.Sounds like she came to say her last goodbye in private so as to not upset the kids more.In a way its great to know our most loved ones are waiting for us till we meet again.Atb to you and family.

Deepest condolences at the loss of your mother, Steve. I believe your mom stopped to say goodbye and to reassure you. A similar thing happened to me when my mom passed as well. We are keeping you and your family in our prayers, and may you always remember the good memories and love of your mom. XXX

Sympathies Steve. Bittersweet. It is very loving of your Mom to give you the sweet in such a sad time.Oz has a wonderful insight. Your children were out of the house when your Mom visited you. I'm sure your Mom didn't want to scare them either, and waited for the right time. Mom's never stop being Mom.
I sent your Mom and your family a little prayer.

The morning my dad died one of the overhead lamps blew a bulb, twice. And other lights kept flickering on command. I’d say “dad is that you?” *Flicker*. And so on.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers, it is very much appreciated.

As a quick follow-up, I have shared this experience with some family members and a few have reported their own experiences. My sister, who has been a bundle of nerves over the past two months was unexpectedly hit by a "cloud of peace and calm" and laid down for the soundest sleep she had in weeks. When she woke up she knew instantly that it meant Mom was gone. My nephew said he felt a hand on his back, as if someone were giving him a hug.

Thanks for sharing. It gives hope to others who have lost loved ones. Gods peace be with your family.

I believe that your Mom will give you signs from time to time to let you know that she is okay and that she will always be with you. Love is eternal.
