Is there a reasonably safe way to ask who a ghost, spirit, or entity is?

You might think that after reading posts on the PNF for more than a year, I might know the answer to this question but I don’t.

I’m not planning on seeking out any paranormal visitors. Just asking the question of my Friendly PNF Experts in case anyone happens to drop by unannounced.

as I said on another post where I mentioned testing the spirits, I think the safest way to test the spirits is to just observe. sooner or later they should show their intentions. and if you know they're hiding under a false pretence i'd assume they're malicious. until you know whether the spirit's intentions or good or bad, I strongly advise against establishing dialog with them. personally i don't even speak with them afterwards, only to them. it's my home so I call the shots.

Wands....you know how if you were walking down the street in a big city and somebody bumped into you? The first thing I'm doing is checking for my wallet/purse and looking to see if he/she is carrying a weapon. If there is an "I'm sorry" and there's a visible weapon (i.e. scratches, injuries, etc), I know it's not really sorry and dangerous.and demand he leave me alone while dialing the cops (clergy). If there is an I'm sorry and he doesn't hurt me but still messes with my stuff by touching it, I'm irritated and don't trust him and once again tell him to leave me alone and throw some salt in his eyes. If there's an I'm sorry and let me just tell ya I meant no harm and just brought you a message....I'm still leary but I'll listen.

Now, if he is glowing a bright white light around him, I'm more likely to smile at him and talk a bit.

I have been blessed not to see them. God knows I’d faint dead away. However , I get odors or sents. It’s not to me specifically , anyone around can smell it too. It’s mostly been in the home. So we have visitors on occasion. They like to visit when we’re not here too. There has been times that we’ve arrived home to find the house full of sents. The minute I open the door it hits, the smells of flowers. My hubby says they were here partying lol. I have no clue what this really is but since there is no logical explanation, I’m making the leap to spirits.
