It's bizarre, but I've always thought of spirals moving towards the center and not out from the center. It's truly astonishing the obvious blindspots a person can have!

Oh don't feel bad my friend. 20,000 years ago when our ancestors first drew these spirals on the cave walls, I'm not so sure if they were going in towards the circle or out away from the dot. Don't let your heart be troubled in which direction the spiral is going.

Benway, we are men who live in modern cities with modern toiletries and plumbing ,toothbrushes and transportation and may have a few Duran Duran albums around.

That's astonishing. I have all of those things, including the Duran Duran albums. :D I'm pretty sure the spiral on those goes in towards the middle. Perhaps my blindspot is due to playing a lot of records when I was growing up!
