Min Min Lights Of Australia

aboriginal tribes hold that the number of sightings has increased in conjunction with the ingression of Europeans into the outback While it has been claimed that the first recorded sighting dates to 1838, in the book Six Months in South Australia Boulia and ccounts of the light appearances vary, though they are most commonly described as being fuzzy, disc-shaped lights that appear to hover just above the horizon. They are often described as being white, though some accounts describe them as changing colour from white to red to green and back again. Some accounts describe them as being dim; others describe them as being bright enough to illuminate the ground under them and to cause nearby objects to throw clearly defined shadows. Others report that the lights were able to keep pace with them when they were in a moving motor vehicle. some people say if you follow them some people never return.
it sounds like willow the wisp to me

Sounds similar to the Brown Mt. and Marfa Lights in the US, but the concept of ghost or spook lights is fairly common around the world. I would like to see a trained geologist head up a study of all such lights that are accessible and try to identify common traits and differences among them.

OK, Duke. What are the possibles and theories on the Marfa and Brown Mt. lights? It's been awhile since I've looked at those as a topic.

I've read explanations ranging from the paranormal (spirits) to the scientific (optical illusions created by car headlights), but there doesn't seem to be a one size fits all, or even most, answer.

its weird how similar things are happening around the world

About forty miles from me, there is ghost light that is fairly well known in the region. It's not like Marfa or Brown Mt, it's supposedly the headlight of a ghost motorcycle whose rider was killed along the road where the light is allegedly seen. The story is if you flash your lights three times from a certain point on the road, the light will come on and race toward you until disappearing just before it reaches you. I've been to the site and flashed my lights on two different occasions, but saw nothing either time.

My friend had a light follow her when driving on a bush highway. It came towards her across a ploughed paddock then behind her along the highway. That would be ok,a farm truck, this was about 30ft off the ground. It followed her all the way home and hovered outside. When she ran in and turned the lights on,the power went out.She hid for 10 min and the light was gone when she looked. No fuses were blown and it was the only house that went dark in the street. She is,or was a very sceptical person.
