I like astronomy..........I was excited when Gerald Hawkins book came out on Stonehenge, that tied astronomy and archaeology, in the early 1970s.

Yes, I still have that fascination with astronomy and the neolithic. I haven't visited Stonehenge yet but that will happen but visited other sites in Scotland and Ireland.

I hear ya. I'd also like to hear any stories you'd care to share about your experiences, did you have a specialty?
My specialties are the Early Americans (late Pleistocene) and the Caribbean (Tiano and European). Experiences: I found a prehistoric cemetery on Montserrat, immediately after arrival, walking to a meeting in Plymouth.....I spied human phalanges eroding from the side of backhoe trench, and soon after, put together a volunteer dig, to salvage the cemetery before it was destroyed by construction. I also wrote a grant proposal for the reconstruction of a gun battery at Carr's Bay, after we found 12 pound guns on the beach after a hurricane.

Just great Bob, sometimes I think I've missed out on a lot by taking a different direction. Myself and a friend will do some metal detecting soon (once I buy one), I just want to find a Roman coin and I'll be a very happy man and the odds are good in this area. Probably contribution to the art but you never know

I visited Stonehenge in 1979....Wonderful. but I was disappointed because of all the barbed wire and protection around it.....I believe they have changed it's surrounding environment since I was there.

I was in the area but just didn't have the time, I believe they have removed that now

Maybe, I'll bring mine, If I ever have a chance to get back to Scotland, and we can do some detecting together.
