Mothman or Green Berets?

This makes almost no sense. Military parachute tests are conducted on closed test ranges or some similar military/government reservation under controlled conditions for safety and security considerations. HALO test jumps would not have been conducted in a populated area with unrestricted airspace. The bit about the paint is also questionable, especially its use in SEA. Why would a special operations force want to glow in the dark in the jungles of Vietnam?

.

right, HALO school was known as freefall school in its early days ,and has been on Ft. Bragg since at least the early- mid 60's. could have also been tested on Ft. benning airborne school... would never be done in an open area.

I first heard about this Green Beret story in Soldier of Fortune Magazine back when I was in high school. They must be recycling articles. l
Like you guys said, the Mothman story is more believable than Green Berets.;)

Good info Duke and Paul. I give people more credit than that too. They know what they saw. A giant bat like creature does not look like a man. There has been many reports of these creatures from close up too.

Weather balloon, though much maligned as an explanation does fit some evidence in some cases. This, on the other hand is like a blind man feeling an elephant's trunk and concluding that it's a watermelon. There are 0 matching points on any level. Throw in the fact that the first mothman report didn't actually mention flying or the air at all and just had a figure with legs, no arms or wings or head and two big lamps racing after them at ground level and... Soldier of Fortune were had!

Mothman is actually more believable in this situation than a Green Beret. What does that do for Occam’s Razor?

You know, those Green Berets were awfully busy in the late 60s. Not only were they dealing with the unpleasantness then going on in SEA and scaring kids in WV lovers' lanes, but if you believe that scoundrel David Paulides, they were also behind (or at least involved) in the other worldly disappearance of little Dennis Martin in Tennessee in 1969.
