Mufon Case 93311. La Porte Indiana. July 13th 2018

I saw a video of this case a couple days ago, my first thought was an aerial banner being towed by a GA aircraft. Speed and shape of the object are right, but there is clearly no light aircraft in the phone video. For those with experience with such things, if there was an a/c and cable in the video as it was being recorded, could they be edited out? And if that answer is yes, could a competent video analyst determine if the video had been edited?

Also noteworthy where this video claims to have been shot is very near the beach tourist area of Michigan City, IN, a likely place for an aerial banner to be towed.

I have lived in Indiana my whole life and in the area there while growing up. Not much in banners happening now but...it's fair time for many counties. Blimp?

Blimp is a possibility, but the ratio of length to width doesn't look right, nor is there any apparent taper at either end of the object.

Would be interesting to contact the Michigan City Tourist Board/Chamber of Commerce to ask if aerial banners are towed over the beaches, and if yes, were any there last Friday. Could also even ask if a blimp was in the area. Maybe I'll do that if I have time tomorrow.

Let me know on that. Grew up in Hobart so it's my old stompin' grouds up there.

Lots of small airfields around here. I'd be interested in what you find out.

It's too bad there is no indication of the direction of travel, or even time of day.

Paint, look at that corn field. Is your corn that high already up there?
That sure looks like corn 3 weeks from now. Maybe tall because of record rains ? Good catch.
It's possible that was an aerial banner. Even on a Friday. There are enough shift workers in that area, that beaches can be crowded on weekdays. Plus school is out.
What the next question is why isn't there an airplane towing it. Here's one thing that I experience once in awhile. If the sky conditions are right, and I mean the right color or the right amount of haze, Baseballs and golf balls disappear on me. I can see it for a bit, and track direction or trajectory. But at some point I flat-out can't see it.

If the sky conditions are right
Which adds another layer to this. Da Region in general has what I used to call steel sky. All the factories, etc, and Chicago leave thick haze or fog over the area which I can visibly see as I approach the area from the south when I drive up. That sky does exactly what you describe, Paint...makes things kind of vanish. (And sets off my asthma the minute I cross that line.) Could also be a combo of haze off of Lake Michigan combining with the smog. Whatever it is, that is a phenomena known in the area. Good call on that one.
