I remember a thread almost exactly like this a bit over a year ago.
I had to come in and see
Armand 's reply. Every year he updates on how his gut can't handle spicy food anymore yet keeps eating it. Only to suffer the consequences later.. or sooner, and all day.
So what did I see? He is still at it! I agree though. Some things do require the caliente. ESPECIALLY red beans and rice!
As for my preference overall, within the last year I went from a spicy hot food lover, to not even being able to handle anything other than a dash of pepper. I very much dislike the tastes (or even hearing the names) of those same foods that I once loved.
Like a switch; overnight.
Every now and again I'll try a bite but everything is still always sooo hot I end up spitting it out! (I obviously am the epitome of an elegant, refined lady of society)
I can't even use my beloved Tapatío.
So ends the long, drawn out saga of my spicy food journey.
And yes... You know I'll still keep trying. Suffering blisters, several missing layers of peeling, flapping, crusty skin on my lips, a painful tongue unable to handle even water, third degree burns on the roof of my mouth. No matter to me. I'm not stubborn, I'm, hmm, competitive. Have to challenge yourself in this life.
Okay, I can't even convince myself of that gossamer wing covered attempt at true disclosure.
In other words: Flimsy Excuse
