Frightening for sure. Goodbye to whatever rights we have left.

DARPA Developing Microdrones Designed to Sneak Into Homes

Quote from that article: "In other words, in three years, the U.S. military will possess the power to send insect-sized, autonomous drones into the homes of Americans that are specifically designed to avoid detection, and deliver information on the target instantly to those who launched the drones."

Three years. That's for insect sized equipment. How small do they have in their possession already?

Nanotechnology is not yet sufficiently advanced to implement such a small camera or microphone. Additionally, the range of RFID is very small, a few feet at best unless someone sets up a very large antenna without anything obstructing it (which would cause signal attenuation) (and you might feel your skin heat up from the radiated RF).

Also, Snopes.

Now, if by "insect sized" you mean dragonfly-sized, those drones were partially declassified in 2014.

The Military Wants Smarter Insect Spy Drones (implying that they already have somewhat dumb ones) (and you really want to follow DefenseOne if you have any interest in hardware!)
