Hi all! This is my first post after looking around for a little bit, I hope this is in the right forum. For a couple of years now, I've been having a strange dream that keeps coming back around every couple of weeks, a dream I've been having for years and in different places. Please, any advice or thoughts, share anything you might think is helpful. I hate these dreams and I'm getting more afraid of them.

The first time I think I can remember the dream, it was in my parent's home about 7 years ago-- I remember knowing I was asleep, but in the dream, I was in that house. Going about my dream-day, I get the idea of going down into the basement and I do. As soon as I move onto the first step down I am overcome with dread, a very specific feeling of dread I had never experienced before. I keep going down the stairs, the dread intensifies and starts getting mixed with fear, until I reach the bottom and the center of the room. In the corner, there is a towering column of black just barely humanoid. I can see a little bit like shoulders and a round part for the head, but other than that it's rather indistinct. The dread and now fear is overpowering and I remember waking up absolutely NOT wanting to move. I know I can move, I bend my arms and shuffle slightly, but I just don't want to. I am then awake for about a half hour, still coming down from the utter dread.

I have that same dream at least 3 more times in the span of 6 months before moving out to the apartment I am in now. This apartment is very small, just about 400 square feet and it has two larger rooms (the bedroom and living room/kitchen), and I share it with my husband. I mention the size because in my dream, the apartment was roughly that size and layout.. I have had that same dream about this apartment: stepping through the threshold of the bedroom and feeling that intense dread and fear. That feeling is the same type I had previously and it intensifies as I round the corner and make it to the center of the next room. Then the humanoid column of black. I awaken and just do not want to move, still feeling that exact type of dread I experienced in my parent's home. I have had the dream in a venue or in a house I don't recognize only once.. that was the most recent time I had this dream. It was two weeks ago and my husband was in it, when I awoke I was turned away from him but terrified of rolling over and looking at the door because I felt like the thing was in the doorway. It sounded like he was having a bad dream, but he doesn't remember it. The dream in my apartment has happened at least a dozen times in about a year and a half.

The third, distinct, venue I had that dream in was my in-law's house. That house has some bad juju in it, not for lack of cleansing, but it was the same damn dream. In the dream, I know I am dreaming, and go around a corner feeling that dread and there is the figure. Awaken, not moving because I think I'm afraid of moving in overhwelmind darkness and dread. That dream has happened twice there.

My parent's home isn't cleansed, but it has always been a happy home. Nothing too outrageous has happened and I can't remember a time I had ever felt a sense of fear or dread as overpowering in that home. My apartment now is our spiritual safe space-- we take care of it, we cleanse it every couple of months, and do our best to keep both negativity and hate out of it. It's been our happy home for over 2 and a half years. Yes, we've had stressful times in it, but nothing that should be able to make something like that negativity and dread manifest or be. The in-law's house is something else, it's been full of negative emotions and experiences.

Anything you can say, please do so. I'll keep you posted if the dream happens again.

Hi Solt, and welcome to the forum. Very glad to have you with us and thank you for sharing! :)

Well, first off, a recurring dream does not necessarily indicate a spirit is around or negativity is in the home. Sometimes a dream is a dream, and sometimes recurring dreams try to bring us a message.

I have had recurring dreams over the years. Each brought a message with it....some of the spiritual kind, some of the "hey, did you know this little part of your life is bothering you?" kind. The feeling of dread could actually be due to any of the above.

Have you had any other kind of paranormal activity or events? Or is it strictly this dream?

Welcome Slot and thanks for sharing. I agree with Debi, start with the simple solution first. It sounds like you are very spiritually aware. Keep us posted on your progress. I'll keep you in prayer. These types of expietences are stressful.

I am way behind on reading this one. I really hope she found peace as her experience hits very close to what i went through. I actually had to almost guzzle my coffee as reading it froze me to the bone.

This was from 2017, you went way back. We get people who pop in with an issue or a question but never return. This was an interesting situation that the person resolved herself it seems.

I guess so? Been scanning old threads and came across that one. It reminded me of what i had experienced, minus the 'being'.

I’m trying to remember your account. Was it also in a dream?
Yeah almost same thing. Find myself in places then out of the blue i felt i was not alone. Total feeling of dread and then came the crackling/hissing sound. Went on for awhile...not often either. One night finally got sick of it and confronted it. Been gone ever since.

Did you confront it in your dream state? Was it a lucid type that you could consciously control it? It was this in an awake state ?
