Take care.Hurricane update - we are having fairly consistent bands of rain. The hurricane should reach us tonight at 11PM at (approx) Category 1. We still have power at this point too. We’ll give you a short update in the morning.
Praying for the best.Step daughter Jessica is a school teacher in Tampa. School has been closed since Friday, she and her dad's family have gotten hotel rooms some 30 miles inland. The school she teaches at is in the storm surge area, she may have no job when it passes. Their home is within blocks of the surge zone so the house may go, as well. They are safe inland but could lose everything. Prayers requested.

Glad all is okay. It looks like the storm picked up its eastward movement pace during the night. I hope that it clears land soon.We didn’t get enough sleep last night because we alternated staying awake to watch the news. But we are thankful that we didn’t loose power. And, though there’s still too strong of rains and winds to navigate outside, I took a quick look in the backyard and don’t see anything obviously out of whack. The hurricane won’t get past us though until about 3AM tomorrow morning so nearly another 18 hours of this stuff is ahead of us.
One year ago, I was on that road and traveled the length of the island. We ate at the Mucky duck on the island.
Although not much is being reported about damage yet, what I have found is devastating. Now we enter the danger stage...how do you get food, water, meds and shelter for that many people FAST.
We used to go to Sanibel every year for our "vacation", even though we lived in Florida. Most of the areas hit hard are where we went yearly. I heard they are sending helicopters over to the islands to check on people. I think the change of path so late left many surprised and they thought they could ride it out if not a direct hit. Then they became ground zero. One year ago, I was on that road and traveled the length of the island. We ate at the Mucky duck on the island.
